Lightning Round

It is spring break, and I am ill, so I thought I would take this chance to wrangle the long-elusive Q&A...

How old are you?
My eighteenth birthday just passed recently, I have mixed feelings about it...

How can you be as young as you are and be a sophmore in college?
I started as a full-time university student when I was sixteen. I took a double workload during highschool, finishing in two years instead of four.

Do you still live with your parents?
I moved out over the Christmas holidays (to my campus). Best decision I've made in a while.

What are you studying?
Currently, I am a double major in English and Foreign Language, and hope to minor in Studio Art, though I've yet to officially declare.

Do you have any siblings?
Yes. A sister, 34 and brother, 40. I am the baby by quite a wide margin.

What about pets.
Two lovely cats, Doorstep and Mini (yes, those are their names). The next one shall be christened Allen Ginsberg...

Not to be too personal or anything, but what religion are you?
I'm Jewish, but I was raised Christian (non-denominational Protestant). My father likes to consider us "Messianic", but for all intensive purposes, we're practicing Christians who retain some Jewish traditions and most holidays. I consider myself religious and spiritual, but also socially and politically progressive.

What got you into blogging?
In some context or another I've been blogging since I was twelve, mostly online personal journals and a few short stories. I decided to start a fashion blog after I saw blogs like Fashion Robot and Style Rookie, just because I wanted to see if I could do it, and to have more motivation to put thought into my outfits.

What is your favourite thing in your wardrobe?
A leather jacket I bought for twelve dollars in TJ Maxx

What gets you interested in fashion, and since when?
I've always had a sense of "dress up" about me during different phases of life. When I was twelve, instead of a purse, I carried a Klamath "medicine bag". When I was ten, I was infatuated by impressionist paintings of ballerinas, so for a year I pranced about in leotards, chiffon, and a velvet ribbon around my neck. I suppose my first trigger was when I was fourteen, I was on a road trip through southern California and in need of amusement, so I bought a copy of Vogue. But I didn't really get into dressing less casually until I started college. I was homeschooled and private schoole, so I was thrilled to be able to wear "real" clothes every day.

If you could be a dress, what dress would you be?\
Any dress designed by Olivier Theyskens. I'm not really one of those girls that swoons over poufy ballgowns, but his designs are so intellectual, they're genuinely poetic.

Who is your favourite designer?
You might as well ask me to pick a favourite CHILD. No, seriously. Marc Jacobs was my first love, but I like Paulo-Melim Andersson, Yojhi Yamamoto, Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez, Miuccia Prada, Ann Demeulemeester and Ricardo Tisci.

Thank you for all of your questions! (and patience)

sometimes Q&A's can be kind of dull, but this was actually interesting!

Your cat names are quite amusing! I wish I can be more creative in naming my cats! Right now, our cat's name is Goofy, just because she's so playful. xxoxoxo

Just found your blog and I've bookmarked it already.

First of all, the 'intellectuals read Vogue too' had me nodding in agreement. Then 'Alexander McQueen tastes on a TJ Maxx budget' had me smile a little but you pull it off..
